Breakwater Prayers
04:41
|
|||
Testing the waters
Swimming the streams
I didn’t know things were not as they seemed
Precious little child
Precious little child
I can see the moon, in your eyes
Under the prairie skies
Under the prairie skies
Your skates cutting across the ice
I will find you in the ocean
I will find you the sea
I will find you in the ocean
In the land of you and me
Breakwater prayers
Running by the sea
Breakwater prayers
In the land of you and me
I will find you in the ocean
I will find you the sea
I will find you in the ocean
In the land of you and me
Belmont called us home
Belmont called us home
Today I’m thinking of you,
You are on my mind
Belmont called us home
Belmont called us home
Today I’m thinking of you,
You are on my mind
I will find you in the ocean
I will find you the sea
I will find you in the ocean
In the land of you and me
Breakwater prayers
Running by the sea
Breakwater prayers
In the land of you and me

Scotland
03:52
|

We all began in Scotland
On the shores of a sea swept land
We all began in Scotland
Entranced by the bagpipe band
Our souls how far they've wandered
Our ships from sand to sand
With broken dreams we mounted beams
Made our way hand over hand
We all began in Scotland
Entranced by the bagpipe band
Oh we left fine souls in Ireland
The strong ones set off once again
The hunger it came as did the rain
And tore us away from our land
We left behind the dying who blessed us as we sailed
Their hopes and dreams our shining beams
Lit our way to the neverland
We all began in Scotland
Entranced by the bagpipe band
We all began in Scotland
Our voices sing out to command
We're strong and we're proud
We're bold and we're loud
Survivors of life's harsh demands
Oh we love you dear old Scotland for our kinfolk sight unseen
From your mud we came your sea and your rain
From Long Isle to Aberdeen
We all began in Scotland
Entranced by the bagpipe band
Oh fare thee well dear Scotland
Your kin spanning sea to sea
We lift up our glass we're the hard working class
We labour with dignity
So tip the jar with kindness and sing out with the band
We dance cause we're free we work jubilantly
And we toast to our old Scotland

Sit on down, sit on down
Sit on down, sit on down
Lay down your dreams
Lay down your dreams
Lay down your dreams
Lay down your dreams
Your hand gently on my back
Between my shoulder blades
I am so safe at last
And I lay down my dreams
Your hand gently on my back
Between my shoulder blades
I am so safe at last
And I lay down my dreams
I’m laying, I'm laying, I'm laying
Oh I'm laying down all of my dreams
I’m laying, I'm laying, I'm laying
Oh I'm laying down all of my dreams
Riding high, desert kisses the sky
Rolling over land like its a scene
I’m safe behind, my love I did find
And I’m laying down all my dreams
I’m laying, I'm laying, I'm laying
Oh, I'm laying down all of my dreams
I’m laying, I'm laying, I'm laying
Oh, I'm laying down all of my dreams
I’m laying down my dreams, Oh I’m laying them down my dreams
I’m laying down my dreams, Oh I’m laying them down my dreams
Riding High, desert kisses the sky
Rolling over land like its a scene
I’m safe behind, my love I did find
And I’m laying down all my dreams
I’m laying, I'm laying, I'm laying
Oh, I'm laying down all of my dreams
I’m laying, I'm laying, I'm laying
Oh, I'm laying down all of my dreams
I’m laying down all of my dreams
I’m laying down all of my dreams

No Love
03:55
|
|||
There, there is no love
There, there is no love
I don’t know what I did wrong
I don’t know what I did wrong
But there is, there is, there is
No love, for me
Dublin called to me a stranger
Sunk me in her ancient sand
Dublin called to me a stranger
So I put my feet into her hands
There, there is no love
There, there is no love
I don’t know what I did wrong
I don’t know what I did wrong
But there is, there is, there is
No love, for me
Was I a fool, was I a fool?
Was I a fool, to believe in you?
One day you’ll wake up old
Your story will be all told
Your pipes laid on the ground
Your life already made its sound
There, there is no love
There, there is no love
There, there is no love
There, there is no love
But there is, there is, there is
No love, for me

Didn't Want To Know
01:14
|
|||
I didn't want to know and I didn't want to see
I didn't want to know the truth you showed to me
I didn't want to know and I didn't want to see
I didn't want to catch that glimpse of your humanity
Oh I didn't want to know

Bridge
03:11
|
|||
Battered hearts wearied bodies
We lay beside our charity
Woven together by the children that we see
Soul to soul from the shadows
You were whispering to me
Every act a quiet kindness
An unspoken dignity
I am building you a bridge to cross over to me
I am counting the stars for so shall our love be
I am building you a bridge to cross over to me
I am counting the stars
For so shall our love be
In your eyes is it fate that is calling out to me
Bluest of the broken and the beautiful I see
Every star hung from heaven holds a promise out to me
Another moment of love where there is you and there is me
I am building you a bridge to cross over to me
I am counting the stars for so shall our love be
I am building you a bridge to cross over to me
I am counting the stars
For so shall our love be
For so shall our love be
For so shall our love be

The emigrants from Barra Island arrived on board half-starving and half-naked. Many children of nine and ten years old had not a rag to cover them . Mrs Crisp the shipmasters wife.. spent the whole of the voyage converting empty bread-bags, old canvases and blankets into coverings for them. They arrived in Quebec unable to support themselves and without any means of paying passage to Upper Canada, where they might be able to find work. Because they had not sailed until August, they arrived too late to be properly settled before the onset of a Canadian winter, for which they remained unprepared.

Mrs Crisp

Mrs. Crisp, the ship master's wife
Mrs. Crisp sewed all day and all night
As we crossed the Atlantic, as we rolled ore the sea
Sweet Mrs. Crisp she be covering thee
She be covering thee
Bring me every bread bag
Every curtain
And every torn sail
These children are bound for Canada
I’ll clothe them, I’ll not fail
Sweet babies of Barra Isle
Victims of a shallow man's greed
Master Crisp is sailing you to kinder souls
All ye days ye’ll be telling this tale
All ye days……………. ye’ll be telling this tale
Bring me every bread bag
Every curtain
And every torn sail
These children are bound for Canada
I’ll clothe them, I’ll not fail
Sweet babies of Barra Isle
Victims of a shallow mans greed
Master Crisp is sailing you to kinder souls
All ye days ye’ll be telling this tale
All ye days ye’ll be telling this tale

Found Me
04:43
|
|||
Love found me
Love found me
Love found me underneath a thousand leaves
Love found me
Love found me
Love found me
Love has lifted us up into the trees
It’s hard to believe but love, found me
I took to the road
To be alone
I wandered the earth
Without any home
I wept an ocean and I loved a stone
I wept an ocean and I loved a stone
But love, love, love, found me
Love found me
Love found me
Love found me underneath a thousand leaves
Love found me
Love found me
Love found me
Love has lifted us up into the trees
It’s hard to believe but love, found me
My friends turn to foes
When I stand my ground
The shame bombs they launch
Fall without any sound
I wept an ocean and I loved a stone
I wept an ocean and I loved a stone
But love, love, love, found me
Love found me
Love found me
Love found me underneath a thousand leaves
Love found me
Love found me
Love found me
Love has lifted us up into the trees
It’s hard to believe but love, found me

Stay Close
03:15
|
|||
Underneath the sky
Held up by the trees
The stars told me
You would come around
Underneath the sky
Held up by the trees
The stars told me
That you would come around
Stay close to me
Stay close to me
Stay close to me
Stay close to me
We’ll walk together, we’ll be side by side
We’ll walk together down life’s road
We’ll walk together, we’ll be side by side
Gone are the days of being alone
Underneath the sky
Held up by the trees
The stars told me
You would come around
Stay close to me (stay close to me)
Stay close to me (stay close to me)
Stay close to me (stay close to me)
Stay close to me (stay close to me)
Stay close to me (stay close to me)
Stay close to me (stay close to me)
Stay close to me (stay close to me)
Stay close to me (stay close to me)
Underneath the sky
Held up by the trees
The stars told me
You would come around
